For over ten years, recognising the value of repetition to refine her craft, Sophie Milne has produced ranges of ceramic wares that have sold in galleries and retail outlets throughout Australia. Predominantly utilising the potter’s wheel and merging traditional and modern techniques of pottery production, she produces delicate porcelain forms which have become a language to explore ideas.
Balancing on the fine line between the perceived fields of functional, conceptual and ornamental ceramics is a challenge that fascinates this artist.
Sophie works from a private studio within the Northcote Pottery Supplies complex in Melbourne. Integral to her art practise is her involvement in teaching wheel thrown ceramic courses and private classes.
